My first ever website bsd notes is about freebsd. That site isn’t updated often because I just use a text editor to make all the changes. I wanted to make this site easier to maintain. This is how I did it.

How I made this site

Tools

Computer

To make a website you really nied a computer. The computer I’m using right now .Is a computer running on FreeBSD. By chance is the best computer i’ve got (866 Mhz and 512Mb ram ) . You don’t need this for making a website but I needed it for something els so why not use it.

Software

A texteditor

It doesn’t realy matter wat kind of editor you use as long as it can edit and save bare text. I use VIM because I like it and it is a really good editor (once yo get used to it.)

Webgen

As you can see at the bottum of the page webgen. I use webgen to generate the webpages from the simple textfiles bij using the standard personal hompage template they supply. When all is up and running I wil try to modify the template to my own personal taste. This gives me the chance to edit the layout of the website without having to change all the pages individually.
